Post 5 - Leisure in the Middle ages

The rhythm of the working day in the Middle Ages varied a great deal in accordance with the seasons. It was the parish bell or that of the neighboring monastery that called the artisan to his workshop and the peasant to his field, and the time to ring the Angelus varied with the length of the natural day. As a rule, people rose and went to bed at the same time as the sun. In winter, therefore, work began at about eight or nine o'clock and finished at five or six. In summer on the other hand, the day began at five in the morning and did not end until seven or eight at night. These are still the regular working hours of peasant families. Please read this article to understand life of leisure in the middle ages.

Post 4 - Wikipedia

Students are directed to go to Wikipedia and read on Sociology of Leisure. Have this on your laptop or smartphone or a printed one. We will discuss the theory of leisure. Second, do a research on leisure on the middle ages?

Post 3 - Sociology of Leisure

Sociology of leisure is the study of how humans organize their free time. Leisure includes a broad array of activities, such as sport, tourism, and the playing of games. The sociology of leisure is closely tied to the sociology of work, as each explores a different side of the work-leisure relationship. More recent studies in the field move away from the work-leisure relationship and focus on the relation between leisure and culture. Studies of leisure have determined that observable patterns cannot be easily explained by socioeconomic variables such as income, occupation or education. The type of leisure activity is substantially influenced by the individual's immediate situation (presence or lack of family, age, and other factors). This post 2 on Sociology of Leisure is a required reading. Please have it on your lap top for discussion.
